This privacy policy explains how Appraise Reporting collects, uses, discloses and protects your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Appraise Reporting is a trading name of Appraise Group Pty Ltd (ABN 11 699 164 399), a member of the KSIB group. The group privacy policy at ksib.com.au/privacy-policy covers information we handle outside this website, including in the Appraise reporting service.

This policy applies to personal information we collect from visitors to this website. It does not cover information we handle on behalf of our clients in the course of providing our services, which is governed by our agreements with those clients.

1. Types of personal information we collect

We may collect the following types of personal information:

  • Identity information: your name, organisation and job title.
  • Contact information: your email address.
  • Enquiry details: what you tell us when you contact us.
  • Technical information: your IP address, browser and device type, operating system and general location, collected automatically when you visit.
  • Interaction and activity data: the pages you view and the path you take, the marketing source that brought you here (such as campaign tags and advertising click identifiers in a link), a device signal derived from your browser and device settings that helps us recognise a returning visit, and how you interact with our emails and website. This information is not linked to your name unless you submit a form.

2. How we collect personal information

We collect personal information through the following means:

  • Contact form: your contact and company details and what you tell us.
  • Newsletter: your contact and company details.
  • Automated collection: basic technical information is collected so the site can work and stay secure. Our own analytics runs by default so we can see how visitors find and use the site. You can switch it off at any time using Decline all or Manage cookies in the cookie banner, or the Cookie Preferences link in the footer; if you do, its cookies are removed. We also use Google Analytics, which follows the same choice.

When you submit a form we receive what you entered together with the page you were on and the marketing source of your visit, whatever your cookie choice.

3. Purposes for collection, use and disclosure

We collect, use and disclose your personal information for the following purposes:

  • Responding to your enquiries and requests.
  • Communicating with you about our services.
  • Understanding how visitors find and use our website, and improving it.
  • Measuring how our marketing performs, and understanding how you engage with our emails and website so we can tailor our communications.
  • Sending marketing communications about our services, where you have consented.
  • Complying with our legal and regulatory obligations.

We do not use or disclose your personal information for other purposes except with your consent or as the Australian Privacy Principles permit.

4. Anonymity and pseudonymity

Where practicable, you may engage with us anonymously or using a pseudonym. However, if you do not provide certain personal information, we may not be able to respond to your enquiry.

These providers handle information under their own privacy and data-processing terms.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of the providers above are based outside Australia, in the United States. Before we disclose personal information overseas we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

We may send you marketing communications about our services where you have consented, for example by subscribing to our newsletter.

The marketing emails we send, such as our newsletter, include standard open and click tracking so we can understand engagement and improve what we send. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.

8. Data security

We use automated bot and spam protection on our forms, encrypted connections, and access controls on the systems that hold your information.

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. Website analytics records are kept for up to 24 months. Form submissions and contact records are kept while we have a relationship with you or you remain subscribed, and are deleted on request unless we must keep them by law.

10. Accessing and correcting your personal information

You have the right to:

  • request correction of any information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.

If we refuse your request for access or correction, we will give you written reasons for the refusal and tell you how you may complain about it.

11. How to make a privacy complaint

If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles or mishandled your personal information, email us at info@appraisereporting.com with details of your concern. We will investigate, and aim to respond within 30 days with what we found and what we will do about it.
